Thursday's Schedule (Tomorrow)

Dear Parents,

We hope you enjoyed your child's celebration of learning today! Based on all the smiles we have seen, it was a rewarding experience for everyone.

Due to tomorrow's weather forecast of rain with small breaks throughout the day, we are forced to change our plans. We will still host the house events at Maybachstrasse but as we are planning on heading to the field during one of the rain-breaks, we are unable to inform all parents of a specific time. Therefore, we are unable to invite you with advance notice. We will email you via Managebac when we leave the school and those of you who can still come are welcome to join.

We will go ahead with our BBQ lunch but we will eat in our normal locations: Early Year's area, the PYP lounge and the bistro. You are still welcome to share some cultural desserts and side-dishes for the kids to sample.

School will end at the normal time 15.45, with buses running as normal and no after-school-activities running.

If you have any questions, please email me directly. Thanks kindly.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Kind regards

Students need to bring a change of clothes for sport in this hot weather - shorts and a short sleeved t-shirt and appropriate sports shoes.  A water bottle is essential!

Many thanks - Mrs Beinert

Parent-Teacher Conferences, Thursday & Friday April 6th-7th 2017 /
PYP Interim Reports (pre-Primary to PYP5)

Dear Early Years and PYP Parents,
We are trialing a new feature in the Managebac Parent Portal which allows you to access, download and print your child’s interim report. These reports are issued for students in pre-Primary to PYP5 and will be available in the online portal under the ‘Academics-Reports’ area. This area can be accessed through the navigation bar which appears on the left-side of the Managebac portal webpage. A step by step presentation can be accessed here:
We are pleased to invite you to our second Parent-Teacher conference, which will take place on Thursday, 6th April 2017 from 16.30 to 19.00 and again on Friday, 7th April 2017 from 8.30 to 12.30. We are using the PTCfast online sign-up system again which you can access via this link:
These conferences are an opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers and discuss any aspect of their school life including their recent interim report.
There will be no school for children on the 7th April Friday, as all teachers will be involved in the conferences.
Single subject (German, Music, Physical Education, English as an additional language) teachers are also available for appointments through the PTCfast sign-up system. As they teach many children, it will not be possible to arrange meetings for everyone in these two-days. Please contact them directly via email if you would like to arrange a time outside of these two-days to meet.

If you are unable to attend the meetings on the day scheduled, please contact the teacher concerned directly to set up an alternative appointment.

We are looking forward to meeting you on the 6th & 7th of April.

With kind regards

Intercultural Book Week, March 20-24, 2017

Dreieich, 7th March 2017

Intercultural Book Week, March 20-24, 2017

Dear Parents,
We are looking forward to our Intercultural Book Week this year from March 20th to 24th, and we have outlined the key events for your information below. In addition to these events, the class teachers are planning a range of other activities throughout the week which will develop students’ love of reading and their intercultural awareness.
EY and PYP Parent Mother- Tongue story sharing
We would like to offer parents and students the opportunity to share favourite books from the many cultures present in our school. The date and time can be arranged to suit your availability, so please speak to your child’s class teacher if you would like to come into the class and share a book in a language of your choice. It would be great to hear stories in as many languages as possible during book week.
Monday 20th March: PYP Visiting Author, Liz Levy
Liz Levy is co-author of the continuation of Paula Danziger's Amber Brown series, the Fletcher mysteries and My life as a fifth-grade comedian amongst others. She will introduce herself in our assembly, and work with individual classes during the day. Our library team will be reading excerpts from her books to the classes before the event to familiarise students with her work.
Wednesday 22nd March: PYP Book Sale, Early Years Book Swap
The PYP Student Council is organising a book sale in the PYP Lounge Wednesday March 22, from 15:25-16:00. Books will be priced at €1; if children would like to sell books at this event, they should inform their class teacher by Friday, 17th March. The student council will also sell hot chocolate at this event to raise money for books. The Early Years book swap will take place at the same time in the Early Years area.
Friday 24th March: EY and PYP Book Character Dress-Up
All Early Years and PYP students are invited to come dressed as book characters on Friday 24th March. Students should all know who their character is and which book they are from!
Daily: Whole School Drop Everything And Read
At various times throughout the week, an announcement will be made over the school PA system inviting students and staff to “Drop Everything And Read” for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on their age.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: Teachers read from a favourite book
Our teachers will read from a favourite book to groups of students from 15:25-14:45. This will be on a sign-up basis.
PYP Bookmark Contest
Children have the opportunity to enter a bookmark of their own design for the library contest. The bookmark should be clear and bright but can have any reading or book theme. It must be entered on the template supplied by the library by Friday March 17. Winners will be announced at assembly during book week.
If you have any further questions, or if you would like to support our Intercultural Book Week in any way, please contact us or the class teacher directly. We  look forward to an enjoyable Book Week!

Best regards,

Ronneburg Castle Trip - March 2nd 2017

Dreieich, 15 February 2017

Dear Parents of PYP5
As part of our current unit on catastrophic events and the Black Death in medieval times we will be taking the class on a field trip to Burg Ronneburg in 63549 Ronneburg on Thursday 2nd March 2017.
During this trip, the students will learn more about medieval life, enjoying a detailed tour of a medieval castle, taking part in a medieval quiz, an archery session and designing their own medieval crest.
We will be leaving school at 9am and returning by 3:15pm.  The children will travel by private coach. The cost per child is 15 Euros for the castle programme plus travelling costs of 24 Euros per child - these costs will be deducted from the trips payment you have already made.
For this trip, your child should bring a small bag containing their snack and drink and with sufficient room to put their packed lunch (which will be supplied by school).  Please send your child with suitable outer wear in case of rainy/cold weather.
Please sign and return the reply slip below by  27 February 2017.
With kind regards

Farm Visit on Thursday 16th February

Don't forget to dress warmly and bring a change of shoes to wear once you are back at school so that we don't all walk mud into the classroom.  Bring campfire snacks to share if you would like to!
